Apple’s long-discussed foldable iPhone — tentatively called the “iPhone Fold” — continues to stir excitement in the tech world. While the device is widely expected to launch in 2025, some reports still point to a possible 2027 release. A new leak, however, sheds light on a key component: the device’s battery capacity.
According to the report, the iPhone Fold will come equipped with a larger battery than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple’s current powerhouse. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro Max includes a 4,823mAh battery in the standard model and a 5,088mAh unit in the eSIM-only version. The foldable model is reportedly being tested with a battery ranging from 5,400mAh to 5,800mAh.
The report also notes that Apple previously tested early prototypes of the iPhone Air with a 3,000mAh battery but eventually managed to integrate a larger unit into the final device. A similar development could occur with the iPhone Fold, which might end up featuring up to 6,000mAh of capacity.
The foldable iPhone is rumored to sport a 7.58-inch inner display and a 5.38-inch cover display, making a bigger battery essential to support the device’s elevated power needs.
If these leaks prove accurate, the iPhone Fold is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most ambitious devices — not just in terms of design, but also in battery performance.
