The pinnacle of motorsport is set to welcome a new contender in 2026, as General Motors’ legendary brand Cadillac makes its long-anticipated Formula 1 debut. The American manufacturer has unveiled its driver lineup featuring two highly experienced names: Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.
Finnish driver Bottas, who previously secured 10 victories and 67 podiums with Mercedes, left Sauber at the end of 2024 before briefly serving as Mercedes’ reserve driver. Now joining Cadillac, Bottas expressed his excitement: “This is not just a racing project, but a long-term vision built from scratch. I’ve worked with the best teams in the world, and I see the same professionalism and hunger here.”
Alongside him, Sergio Perez, with 14 seasons, 281 races, six wins, and 39 podiums in his career, steps in after parting ways with Red Bull. The Mexican driver highlighted his motivation: “To be part of Cadillac’s F1 journey is an honor. We want to shape a team that represents the Americas, and we will count on our fans’ support to move forward.”
With its entry, Cadillac will become the 11th team on the Formula 1 grid in 2026. Thanks to its seasoned drivers, the team aims to accelerate its adaptation phase and establish a competitive presence from its very first season.
