F1: Norris triumphs in turbulent British GP as Hulkenberg scores maiden podium

Silverstone’s famously fickle weather produced a British Grand Prix worthy of the history books. Lando Norris sent the home crowd into raptures by mastering a wet‑dry roller‑coaster to claim victory, leading Oscar Piastri home for a commanding McLaren one‑two. Yet the fairy‑tale story belonged to Nico Hulkenberg, who charged from P19 to secure his first‑ever Formula 1 podium.

The race began under clear skies with polesitter Max Verstappen initially in control. But heavy rain soon swept across the circuit. Piastri seized his chance, overtaking the Dutchman and setting a scorching pace. When conditions became treacherous, the Safety Car bunched the field and erased McLaren’s early advantage.

Drama escalated after the restart. Piastri earned a 10‑second penalty for slowing too much behind the Safety Car, and Verstappen compounded Red Bull’s misery with a spin. As the track dried, the switch to slick tyres became decisive. Piastri served his penalty in the pits, handing Norris the lead he would not relinquish, eventually winning by 6.812 seconds.

Behind them, Hulkenberg scripted the race’s most emotional subplot. Driving for Kick Sauber, the German climbed from 19th on the grid, judged the tyre changes to perfection, and fended off Lewis Hamilton in the closing laps to finish third—finally reaching the podium at his 239th Grand Prix.

A tempestuous Silverstone delivered a McLaren one‑two, a long‑awaited Hulkenberg podium, and a spectacle sure to echo through the remainder of the season.
