In a dramatic move that shifts his focus from technology to politics, Elon Musk has officially announced the formation of a new political party — the “America Party.”
The billionaire entrepreneur, who helms Tesla, SpaceX, and social media platform X, made the announcement via a post on his platform, claiming the current U.S. political landscape no longer represents a true democracy.
“You want a new political party by a 2-to-1 margin — and you shall have it!” Musk declared. He went on to say that the U.S. is being “driven into bankruptcy by waste and corruption,” and accused the system of operating like a single-party regime when it comes to serious issues affecting the country.
According to Musk, the purpose of the newly founded America Party is simple: to restore freedom to the people. Although he provided few specifics on the party’s platform or its leadership structure, the announcement signals Musk’s transition from vocal political commentator to active participant on the national stage.
Musk has previously criticized both Democrats and Republicans on his platform, but with the launch of the America Party, he is making his most direct move yet to challenge the entrenched two-party system in the United States. The ripple effects of this decision are expected to be felt across the political spectrum.
