New Dacia Bigster has unveiled: Ushering a new era in the C-SUV segment

Dacia has unveiled its latest model, the Bigster, which aims to set a new benchmark in the SUV market. Inspired by its smaller sibling, the Duster, but offering a true C-SUV experience with its larger dimensions and enhanced features, the Bigster is set to hit the market in April 2025. This much-anticipated model promises a more spacious interior and an enriched feature set for its users.

Design and Dimensions: Following Duster’s Footsteps but Bigger

Introduced as a concept back in 2021 and serving as an inspiration for the new generation Duster, the Dacia Bigster has now arrived in its production version. While it looks like an extended version of the Duster, the Bigster brings its own unique touches. With a length of 4.57 meters, a width of 1.81 meters, and a height of 1.71 meters, the Bigster is 23 cm longer than the Duster. This additional length translates into a more spacious cabin, while its 2.7-meter wheelbase ensures ample legroom for rear passengers.

Notable Design Details: A More Refined Look

The Bigster differentiates itself from the Duster with finer design details. The front bumper design offers a more modern look, and the vehicle’s SUV character is highlighted by 17 to 19-inch wheels and 22 cm ground clearance. The top-tier model even includes a black roof with a dual-tone option, a first for Dacia.

Rich Interior Features

Inside, the Dacia Bigster comes equipped with features that position it as a true C-SUV. Key highlights include an electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia display. Upper trims also feature a cooled storage compartment in the center console, adding extra convenience for users.

Engine Options: A Range of Hybrid and Gasoline Alternatives

The Dacia Bigster offers a variety of powertrain options. It is the first vehicle in the Renault Group to feature the Hybrid 155 engine. This hybrid system combines a 105-horsepower four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 50-horsepower primary electric motor, a high-voltage starter generator, and a 1.4 kWh battery. Its automatic transmission ensures seamless operation between the gasoline and electric motors.

For those who prefer a non-hybrid option, the TCe 140 version with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine is available. This model comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and mild hybrid support, optimizing fuel efficiency. Alternatively, the TCe 130 variant offers a 48V mild hybrid system and 4×4 capability.

Eco-Friendly Options with LPG

Dacia also caters to LPG users with the Bigster’s ECO-G 140 variant, offering a factory-fitted LPG option for an eco-friendlier drive. The 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, supported by a mild hybrid system, achieves up to 10% lower CO2 emissions when running on gas compared to non-hybrid gasoline engines. With a 50-liter gasoline tank and a 49-liter LPG tank, the model provides a total range of up to 1,450 kilometers.

Launch Date and Pricing Information

The new Dacia Bigster is set to make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show. Pricing is expected to be announced in January 2025, with the model hitting the market in April. As Dacia’s largest model to date, the Bigster is poised to make a strong entrance into the C-SUV segment.
