Xiaomi Officially Launches Its First 10,000mAh Battery Phone: Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G
Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in Japan, introducing the company's first smartphone equipped with a massive 10,000mAh battery.
The device is also the first “Pro Max” model in the Redmi Note series. Alongside its huge battery, the smartphone stands out with fast charging technology, a highly durable body and an impressive display.
A massive 10,000mAh battery with up to three days of use
The biggest highlight of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is undoubtedly its 10,000mAh battery. Xiaomi uses modern silicon-carbon battery technology, allowing the company to fit a significantly larger battery into a relatively slim smartphone.
According to Xiaomi, the device can offer up to three days of regular use on a single charge. It also supports 100W wired fast charging, with the company claiming that just 20 minutes of charging can provide enough power for an entire day.
Battery longevity is another key feature. Xiaomi says the battery can retain more than 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, which could translate to approximately six years of use.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max can also charge other devices through 27W wired reverse charging, allowing users to power accessories or even other smartphones.
Built for durability
Xiaomi has equipped the smartphone with what it calls the Redmi Titan Structure, a durability-focused design that comes with both IP66 and IP68 ratings.
The company says the device has been tested and verified by TÜV SÜD to withstand being submerged at a depth of two meters for up to 72 hours. It also features a dedicated Water Mode designed for taking photos underwater.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while SGS has certified the device to survive drops from heights of up to three meters.
120Hz display with 3,500 nits of brightness
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 6.83-inch display with 1.5K resolution. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness.
It also offers a touch sampling rate of up to 3,200Hz, which could provide faster response times during gaming and other touch-intensive activities.
The display carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free viewing.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and HyperOS 3
Powering the smartphone is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor. Through its memory expansion feature, the device can offer up to 16GB of RAM.
On the software side, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max runs on HyperOS 3, which includes several AI-powered features, such as offline AI translation and real-time speech transcription.
Xiaomi has also promised six years of security updates and four major operating system upgrades for the device.
50MP main camera with OIS
The camera system includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
For selfies and video calls, the smartphone features a 32MP front-facing camera.
A color-changing special edition
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is available in black, purple and Cloud Blush color options.
The Cloud Blush version uses photochromic technology, allowing the back panel to change from white to a pinkish-orange shade when exposed to sunlight.
The black and purple models measure approximately 78.27 x 163.44 x 8.65mm, while the Cloud Blush version is slightly thinner at 8.57mm. All three versions weigh approximately 229.5 grams.
