GTA 6 Gameplay Footage Leaks Ahead of New Trailer as Rockstar Takes Videos Down

With Rockstar Games preparing to unveil a much deeper look at Grand Theft Auto VI, alleged gameplay footage has surfaced online just days before the upcoming presentation.

Two roughly two-minute clips and what appears to be a screenshot of the game's map have reportedly been shared online. Rockstar is said to be issuing DMCA copyright takedown notices against users distributing the material.

Although the authenticity of the leaks has not been independently confirmed, the footage appears convincing and includes several details that align with previously revealed information about the game.

The Map of Leonida Appears to Have Leaked

One of the most interesting pieces of leaked material is an alleged map of Leonida, GTA 6's fictional take on Florida.

The map appears to feature a large urban area inspired by Miami on the eastern side, while the western and northern regions contain considerably more open and natural environments.

Numerous islands can also be seen throughout the map, including a group in the south that appears to resemble the Florida Keys.

Several map markers are visible as well, including icons representing homes, vehicles and masked characters. Perhaps most intriguingly, one marker appears to depict an alligator, reinforcing expectations that wildlife will play a larger role in GTA 6's world.

Jason's Workout and the Possible Return of RPG Mechanics

One of the leaked clips reportedly features Jason, one of GTA 6's two protagonists, at a waterfront property.

The location includes workout equipment on a balcony, immediately recalling the character-development mechanics seen in GTA: San Andreas.

Jason then jumps over the balcony, runs past a jet ski and picks up a basketball. After successfully making his first shot, a Focus stat appears to increase.

If authentic, this could suggest that GTA 6 will incorporate more pronounced RPG-style mechanics, allowing players to develop certain character abilities.

The footage also appears to show two money counters using a familiar GTA-style font, while a Focus meter becomes visible when Jason is holding the basketball.

Interestingly, the building shown in the clip reportedly resembles a structure previously featured in an official GTA 6 screenshot. Rockstar's official website has identified that location as Jason's safehouse.

Wanted Levels and a Possible Honor System

The second clip reportedly contains considerably more action.

Jason appears to be driving toward an area known as The Keys before making a U-turn and causing a minor traffic accident. After crashing into a delivery truck, Jason gets into a fight with the driver and eventually kills him with a wrench.

The incident results in a two-star wanted level.

However, another detail could prove even more significant. A devil-like symbol accompanied by a minus sign reportedly appears on the screen and on Jason's character portrait.

This has led to speculation that GTA 6 could feature an honor or morality system similar to the one used in the Red Dead Redemption series.

If such a system is included in the final game, player actions could potentially influence more than just police response, possibly affecting character relationships, reputation or other aspects of the story.

Could GTA 6 Introduce Vehicle Fuel?

The footage may also provide a glimpse at another potential gameplay feature.

As Jason returns to his vehicle, brief "Loadout" and "Storage" prompts reportedly appear. These could indicate that players will be able to manage weapons and other items through their vehicles.

An even more intriguing detail appears when Jason gets back behind the wheel: an icon showing the vehicle's name is accompanied by what appears to be a fuel gauge.

This has sparked speculation that GTA 6 could introduce a fuel-management system, requiring players to refuel their vehicles.

Such a feature would add another layer of realism and resource management that has not been a major part of previous GTA titles.

The clip reportedly ends as Jason approaches an air ambulance.

The Leaks Should Still Be Viewed With Caution

Despite the convincing appearance of the footage, there is no guarantee that every detail represents the final version of GTA 6.

The age of the recordings is unknown, and Rockstar could have changed, removed or redesigned various mechanics during development.

The leaked materials also reportedly contain watermarks linking to websites accompanied by messages about "fighting for gamers' rights."

The alleged leaker claims the footage was released as a protest against Rockstar's reported decision to ship the physical version of the game without a traditional disc, instead providing a code.

The person has also reportedly criticized digital pre-orders, paid single-player content and what they describe as inadequate long-term access to purchased games.

GTA 6's Next Big Reveal Is Almost Here

The timing of the leak is particularly interesting because fans will not have to wait long for an official look at the game.

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to receive an extended presentation on August 27, reportedly premiering on Netflix before becoming available through YouTube and Rockstar Games' official channels.

The game itself is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

With the official presentation just days away, the latest leaks have added another layer of excitement and speculation around GTA 6. For now, however, the safest approach is to treat the leaked material as unconfirmed until Rockstar officially reveals which of these features will actually make it into the final game.
