MacBook Neo 2 Reportedly in Development with A19 Pro Chip and More RAM
Apple is reportedly working on the second generation of its budget-friendly laptop, the MacBook Neo.
According to recent leaks, the upcoming model will feature meaningful hardware upgrades designed to improve overall performance while maintaining the affordable positioning that made the original device attractive to many users.
A19 Pro chip expected to deliver a significant performance boost
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and other industry sources, Apple has begun testing the next-generation MacBook Neo with the A19 Pro processor. The new chip is expected to replace the A18 Pro found in the current model and deliver noticeable improvements in both computing and graphics performance.
Reports suggest the A19 Pro could offer around 10–15% better CPU performance and up to 40% higher GPU performance, making the laptop more capable for multitasking, creative workloads, and everyday productivity.
More memory for Apple Intelligence
One of the biggest expected upgrades is the system memory. Instead of the 8 GB RAM offered in the first-generation MacBook Neo, Apple is reportedly considering 12 GB RAM for the new model.
The additional memory would better support Apple Intelligence, allowing AI-powered features to run more efficiently while improving overall responsiveness when multiple applications are open simultaneously.
Optimized GPU for better battery life
Although the MacBook Neo 2 is expected to use the A19 Pro processor, its graphics configuration may differ from the version found in the iPhone 17 Pro.
Apple is reportedly evaluating a five-core GPU configuration for the laptop in order to strike a better balance between graphics performance, power efficiency, and battery life. This approach could help maximize endurance without sacrificing everyday usability.
Familiar design with refreshed colors
Major design changes are not expected for the second-generation MacBook Neo. Apple is likely to retain the lightweight and compact chassis that defines the current model.
However, the company may refresh the color lineup to make the device more appealing. Alongside the existing Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo finishes, new color options could also be introduced.
Launch expected in 2027
While Apple has yet to officially announce the device, current reports suggest that the MacBook Neo 2 could debut in 2027. With a faster processor, increased memory, and enhanced support for Apple Intelligence, the new model could become an even stronger competitor in the affordable laptop segment.
