Galaxy Z Fold 8 Surpasses Ultra Model in Early Pre-Orders
Samsung's latest foldable smartphone lineup has made a strong debut, and early reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has become the surprise success of the series.
According to multiple industry leaks, the device has exceeded Samsung's internal expectations and is reportedly outselling the premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra during the pre-order period.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 exceeds Samsung's expectations
According to well-known Korean leaker Lanzuk, pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have been significantly stronger than Samsung anticipated. The report claims that the company increased production volumes by approximately 40% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, yet supply is still struggling to keep up with demand.
Some reports suggest that retail stores in South Korea may not receive sufficient inventory until early or mid-September, while carrier channels could experience shipping delays through mid-August. These shortages are currently believed to be limited primarily to the Korean market.
Compact design appears to be winning customers over
Another industry source also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is currently outselling the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in Samsung's home market.
If this momentum continues, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could become Samsung's best-selling foldable smartphone to date.
Unlike the Ultra model, the Fold 8 focuses on a more compact design, featuring a 10:16 cover display and a 4:3 foldable inner screen that many users find more practical for everyday use.
Better display experience for media consumption
One of the Galaxy Z Fold 8's biggest strengths is its display aspect ratio. The 4:3 foldable screen offers a more immersive viewing experience by reducing black bars when watching standard 16:9 videos while displaying 4:3 content almost perfectly.
Combined with its shorter and wider design, the device also feels easier to handle compared to the larger Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Premium price remains a challenge
Despite its popularity, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is not without compromises. Its starting price of ₺132,000 places it firmly in the premium segment, which may discourage many potential buyers.
In addition, the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera and a lower level of dust and water resistance compared to the Ultra model could influence purchasing decisions for some users.
Samsung.com-exclusive Sage color proves to be the favorite
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is available in Cream, Graphite Gray, Lavender, and Sage color options.
Among them, the Samsung.com-exclusive Sage finish has reportedly become the most sought-after variant, with demand exceeding initial expectations and inventory quickly selling out in several markets.
Early sales figures suggest that Samsung's decision to introduce a more compact foldable flagship may be paying off. If current demand continues, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could become one of the company's most successful foldable smartphones ever.
