Released in many countries this week, Hoppers has received strong praise from critics and audiences alike, becoming one of Pixar’s most well-received projects in recent years. Riding the momentum of this success, the studio has now shared details about several films currently in development.
Incredibles and Monsters Inc. Are Returning
According to reports, Pixar is actively developing Incredibles 3, the next installment in its popular superhero franchise. The film is expected to reach theaters in 2028.
Another exciting development involves the return of the beloved monster universe. Pixar has confirmed that a new entry in the Monsters Inc. franchise is in the early stages of production. The series last appeared on the big screen with Monsters University, and the next film could arrive sometime between 2029 and 2030.
Toy Story 5 and Coco 2 Already on the Calendar
Pixar’s schedule also includes two highly anticipated sequels.
The legendary animation franchise Toy Story will return with Toy Story 5, set to hit theaters this summer.
Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning musical adventure Coco is getting a follow-up with Coco 2, currently targeted for release in 2029.
New Original Stories on the Way
In addition to sequels, Pixar continues to invest in original storytelling. One of the most intriguing projects is Gatto, which will become the studio’s first hand-drawn animated feature. The film is scheduled for release on March 5.
Another original project, One Ghost Market, will explore a supernatural marketplace inspired by Asian mythology, where both living and non-living beings cross paths in unexpected ways.

Pixar is also preparing its first full musical animated feature. The project will be directed by Domee Shi, best known for her acclaimed film Turning Red.
With a mix of beloved franchises and bold new stories, Pixar appears determined to shape the future of animation once again.
