2026 Facelifted Opel Astra Revealed: Sharper Design, High-Tech Lights and Extended Electric Range
Opel, after refreshing its Mokka and Grandland models, has now turned its focus to one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates: the Astra. Fully updated for the 2026 model year in both Sedan and Sports Tourer body styles, the new Astra is set to make its first public appearance on January 9 at the Brussels Motor Show.
The exterior of the new Astra has been significantly modernized, with the highlight being the brand-new Intelli-Lux HD LED headlights. Featuring an impressive 50,000 individual light elements, this advanced lighting system creates a sharper, slimmer and more high-tech lighting signature. Another striking detail is the use of illuminated Opel logos at both the front and rear, giving the car a more premium and futuristic identity. The design language is inspired by the high-performance Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo concept.
New 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheel options are offered, along with two fresh body colors — white and green. A contrast black roof is also available, further enhancing the sporty character of the facelifted Astra.
Inside the cabin, comfort has been notably improved. AGR-certified ergonomic seats now come as standard even in entry-level trims, providing superior support especially on long journeys. Optional features such as heating, lumbar support and massage functions are available. The use of fully recycled materials in the seat upholstery highlights Opel’s growing commitment to sustainability. The multimedia system has also been upgraded, offering a clearer, more intuitive and driver-focused interface.
The fully electric version of the refreshed Astra comes equipped with a 58 kWh battery pack (55.4 kWh usable). This upgrade delivers an additional 35 km of range, pushing the maximum driving distance to up to 454 km. One of the most exciting new features is the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) function, which allows the car to supply power to external devices, eliminating the need for separate power sources.
Although Opel has not yet revealed all technical specifications, the new Astra is expected to be offered in three trim levels: Edition, GS and Ultimate. Alongside the electric variant, the engine lineup is expected to include a plug-in hybrid model with up to 83 km of electric range, a 1.2-liter mild hybrid engine producing 145 horsepower, and turbocharged petrol options.
