Toto Wolff: The 2025 F1 champion is already decided

The Formula 1 paddock is buzzing after the Brazilian Grand Prix, and the spotlight is firmly on Lando Norris. The McLaren driver delivered a flawless weekend in Interlagos, extending his lead in the championship standings and solidifying his position at the top. According to Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, the title race is all but over.

“I think the champion is already decided,” Wolff said after the race. “Lando has built a strong lead. He doesn’t need to win every race anymore — he just has to stay consistent and avoid any risky contact. Unless he faces a retirement or a major setback, I don’t see him losing this title.”

Wolff praised Norris’s calmness and precision under pressure, saying, “Of course, fans always want the title fight to go down to the final race, but Norris has shown great composure. He’s in control, scoring points steadily and making very few mistakes.”

The Mercedes boss also highlighted McLaren’s effective team management: “They’re handling their two competitive drivers very well. They allow healthy competition while keeping tension in check. I don’t see them getting in each other’s way on track.”

With Norris’s consistency, McLaren’s tactical brilliance, and the team’s renewed energy, it seems Formula 1 may soon welcome a new name to the list of world champions — and Wolff believes it’s already written in the stars.
