Samsung has decided to discontinue the Galaxy S26 Edge, marking the end of an era for the company’s iconic curved-screen “Edge” lineup. According to industry sources, the decision stems from the disappointing sales performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which failed to meet expectations despite strong specifications.
Unveiled in May 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge featured a 200 MP camera, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and an ultra-slim design. However, sales figures were underwhelming, leading Samsung to reassess consumer preferences. Analysts suggest that users are now gravitating toward more traditional and durable form factors rather than ultra-thin or curved-screen phones.
As reported by Newspim, the Galaxy S26 lineup will now consist of three models: Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. This move signals a simplification in Samsung’s flagship lineup, as the company shifts away from niche designs to focus on performance and practicality.
Currently, only the Galaxy S26 Ultra is progressing smoothly through its development phase. Interestingly, Apple is facing a similar issue with its iPhone 17 Air, which also underperformed in sales. The trend suggests that ultra-thin smartphone designs remain a niche preference in today’s market.
With the discontinuation of the Edge series, Samsung seems poised to embrace a new era focused on balanced design, improved battery life, and consistent flagship performance.
