iOS 26.1 adds a transparency control for the Liquid Glass UI

Apple’s latest visual overhaul, iOS 26, introduced the brand-new Liquid Glass UI, a bold design shift that has divided users. While many praised its sleek and futuristic appearance, others complained that it resembled Windows Vista and suffered from excessive transparency that impacted usability.

After the first beta, Apple had already toned down the transparency effects in response to user feedback. However, some still found it distracting. To address this, the upcoming iOS 26.1 update introduces a new option that lets users control the transparency level.

The new control isn’t a slider but rather a simple toggle between two modes: “Clear”, which keeps the current look, and “Tinted”, which increases opacity and contrast. This adjustment should greatly improve visibility and make the interface more comfortable for those who found Liquid Glass too flashy.

You can find the new setting under Settings > Display & Brightness in both iOS and iPadOS betas, as well as macOS Tahoe 26.1. Apple is expected to release iOS 26.1 soon, giving users more personalization and accessibility over their visual experience.
