Apple introduces M5 MacBook Pro

Apple has officially unveiled its first laptop powered by the new M5 chip—the 14-inch MacBook Pro. In a shift from its usual strategy, the company launched this entry-level model separately, ahead of the more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max versions expected in the coming months.

The new MacBook Pro, priced at $1,599, debuts alongside the latest 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro models that also feature the same M5 processor. Unlike last year’s simultaneous release of the M4 series, Apple’s decision to launch the M5 version early appears aimed at boosting sales momentum before the higher-end models arrive.

In terms of hardware, the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. Apple reportedly chose to stick with the 3-nanometer manufacturing process for cost efficiency. However, the M5 chip brings notable performance improvements with its 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, promising faster multitasking and better graphics capabilities.

The new MacBook Pro is now available for pre-order with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with shipping set to begin on October 22. This understated release underscores Apple’s evolving marketing approach and could mark a turning point in how the company rolls out future MacBook generations.
