Xiaomi has skipped the “16” series and unveiled its new flagships: Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Pro. Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, these devices bring major performance upgrades and unique design innovations—most notably, the dual-screen Xiaomi 17 Pro.
Xiaomi 17: Compact Body, Massive Battery
The Xiaomi 17 weighs just 191 grams yet packs a 7,000 mAh battery with 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging. Its 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display offers 120Hz refresh rate, 3,500 nits peak brightness, and Dragon Crystal Glass protection, along with IP66/IP68/IP69 certifications for water and dust resistance.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers 20% faster performance, 35% better efficiency, and improved GPU/NPU capabilities. On the camera side, the device features a 50 MP triple setup (main, ultra-wide, telephoto) plus a 50 MP front camera.
Xiaomi 17 Pro: A Phone with a Second Screen
The Pro model introduces a 2.7-inch rear display that shows notifications, supports camera previews, and even runs mini-games. It sports a 50 MP Light Hunter 950L main sensor, 50 MP ultra-wide, and 50 MP 5x periscope telephoto lens, along with a 50 MP selfie camera. A 6,300 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging powers the device.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi 17 comes in four colors (black, blue, pink, white) starting at ¥4,499 (~$630), while the Xiaomi 17 Pro launches in black, white, purple, and green starting at $700. A global release is expected in early 2026.
