At the 17th round of the MotoGP World Championship, held at Japan’s iconic Motegi Circuit, Spanish rider Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo secured the 2025 title despite finishing second in the race.
The Grand Prix was run over 24 laps, with Marquez’s teammate Francesco Bagnaia crossing the line first in 42 minutes 09.312 seconds. Marquez followed just 4.196 seconds behind, while Honda HRC Castrol rider Joan Mir claimed third place, 6.858 seconds off the leader.
With this result, the 32-year-old Spaniard sealed his seventh MotoGP world championship, locking in the title with five races still to go. Overcome with emotion, Marquez shared after the race:
“Words can’t describe this. I just want to enjoy the moment. It was so tough, but now I feel at peace with myself.”
This triumph further cements Marquez’s legacy as one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history.
