Microsoft moves to address Windows 11 performance issues

Since the official launch of Windows 11 in October 2021, users have occasionally reported performance-related issues, particularly on certain hardware configurations. While the new OS introduced a visually refined interface and modern features, it was often criticized for feeling less responsive than Windows 10 and for underwhelming gaming performance on hybrid processors. Microsoft has now decided to adopt a more technical and comprehensive strategy to tackle these shortcomings.

With its newly released test build, Microsoft has rolled out a performance diagnostics system that collects more detailed user feedback. Insider Program participants can now report any perceived sluggishness through the Feedback Hub, which will automatically send performance logs to Microsoft. This will allow engineers to analyze slowdowns in real-time along with contextual system data.

These updates are seen as a precursor to the upcoming 25H2 update, expected to arrive later this year. Microsoft aims to significantly enhance system responsiveness and stability with this release. In previous updates, the company had already improved the taskbar, notifications panel, and quick settings to streamline user interactions and reduce the impact of background applications.

Microsoft’s efforts also extend to improving driver reliability. Starting with version 25H2, the driver certification process will require mandatory static analysis. This will enable more thorough testing before drivers are released to users, helping to catch bugs early and strengthen overall system reliability.
