Following the recent launch of the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is now working on expanding the lineup with a new Fan Edition model. However, as anticipation builds, there's still no clear answer regarding which chipset the Galaxy S25 FE will feature. A new leak has shed light on Samsung’s possible plans and the potential surprise it may hold.
According to the leak, Samsung has begun testing the U.S. variant of the Galaxy S25 FE under the model number SM-S731U. The company is reportedly evaluating two chipset options. While the Exynos 2400e is currently planned, production challenges might push Samsung to switch to MediaTek’s high-performance Dimensity 9400 chipset.
From a performance standpoint, the Dimensity 9400 — built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process — clearly outperforms the Exynos 2400e in both speed and efficiency. Thanks to its new Cortex-X925 core and All Big Core architecture, it offers a 35% improvement in single-core and 28% in multi-core performance. However, this choice could increase production costs for Samsung.
Although the chipset decision remains unresolved, other specs of the Galaxy S25 FE are starting to take shape. It is expected to carry over the 6.7-inch AMOLED panel (1,900 nits brightness) and 4,700 mAh battery from the S24 FE. On the software side, it will come preloaded with Android 16-based One UI 8, which will be introduced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July.
