Android 15 now available for Pixel devices: Key features unveiled

Google has officially released the long-awaited Android 15 update for Pixel phones and tablets. Initially launched through the Android Open Source Project last month, the operating system is now rolling out to Pixel and other Android devices.

Focus on Privacy: Private Space

One of the standout features of Android 15 is the Private Space, allowing users to hide apps they don’t want others to see on their devices. According to Google, apps stored in the Private Space won’t appear in recent apps, notifications, or settings. Accessing this space requires additional authentication, enhancing user security.

Enhanced Features for Foldable Devices and Tablets

Android 15 introduces improvements tailored for foldable phones and tablets. Users can now pin the taskbar, making it easier to switch between apps. Additionally, it allows for split-screen usage, letting users access paired apps from the taskbar or add them as icons to the home screen.

AI-Powered Security: Theft Detection Lock

With Android 15 comes the Theft Detection Lock, a security feature that uses AI to detect if a phone is stolen and automatically locks it. Another new feature, Remote Lock, allows users to lock their devices using another Android phone, phone number, and a simple security check. Google states that most devices running Android 10 or later will have access to these features.

Improved Photo and Audio Features

Google has also introduced exclusive enhancements for Pixel users with Android 15. This includes Night Sight for better low-light photos on Instagram and more control for the Audio Magic Eraser feature. Additionally, a new feature that enables seamless media and file transfer between Pixel devices will be available in the coming weeks.
