F1: Norris claims victory in Singapore, closing the gap on Verstappen

In the 18th round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship, McLaren’s British driver Lando Norris took a crucial win at the Singapore Grand Prix. The race at the 4.94-kilometer Marina Bay Street Circuit saw Norris put in a stellar performance, edging closer to Max Verstappen in the drivers’ standings.

The 62-lap race in Singapore tested the drivers’ skill and endurance on the challenging street circuit. Lando Norris led from start to finish, marking his third victory of the season. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished second, trailing Norris by 20.945 seconds, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri crossed the line 41.823 seconds behind his teammate to secure third, giving McLaren a double podium.

So far in the 2024 season, Max Verstappen has claimed seven victories, while Lando Norris has now secured three wins. Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Oscar Piastri each have two victories, with George Russell and Carlos Sainz claiming one win apiece.

Despite Verstappen still holding a commanding lead in the drivers’ standings with 331 points, Norris’ latest triumph brings him closer with 279 points. McLaren leads the constructors’ standings with 516 points, a significant advantage over second-place Red Bull, which has 475 points.

The next race in the season, the United States Grand Prix, will take place on October 20, where all eyes will be on the continuing battle between Norris and Verstappen.
