Introducing the Kia EV3: The newelectric revolution

Kia’s latest addition to the electric vehicle market, the Kia EV3, is set to make a significant impact in Europe. With a compact size yet generous battery options, this model aims to redefine the electric vehicle landscape.

Exterior Design

The Kia EV3’s exterior showcases the brand’s modern and appealing design language seen in recent years. The vehicle features sleek lines reminiscent of other Kia electric models, but its standout characteristic is its compact 4.3-meter length.

Built on the E-GMP platform, the EV3 greets you with a distinctive front lighting design. The “Y” shaped daytime running lights, similar to those on the EV9, add a unique touch to the EV3’s front fascia.

From the side, the flush door handles on the front doors and the pillar-mounted rear door handles are notable features, enhancing the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. Smooth fenders also contribute to its streamlined design.

The rear end of the EV3 exudes a sporty vibe similar to the EV9. The new rear bumper design adds an aggressive touch, making the EV3 stand out.

Interior and Storage

Inside the Kia EV3, you’ll find a spacious and airy cabin. The electric tailgate reveals a 460-liter trunk, which can expand to 1,200 liters with the rear seats folded flat. Additionally, a front trunk provides approximately 25 liters of extra storage space.

Upon entering, the unified display behind the steering wheel immediately catches your eye, combining the digital instrument cluster and multimedia system. The Android-based multimedia system allows for app installations, offering access to services like Netflix and Spotify during charging.

Kia also emphasizes its commitment to sustainability by using recycled materials for the entire console of the EV3.

Motor Options and Pricing

The technical specifications of the Kia EV3 are impressive. It features a single electric motor on the front axle, producing 204 horsepower. This motor draws power from battery options ranging between 58 and 81 kWh. The inclusion of an 81 kWh battery in a compact vehicle highlights advancements in battery technology.

While the range details of these batteries are yet to be disclosed, it is confirmed that the EV3 supports bidirectional charging. This means the EV3 can serve as a massive power bank when needed, even powering household needs.

The EV3 also adopts a 400-volt architecture, allowing for a maximum charging power of 128 kW.

Kia will commence sales of the EV3 in October. Although the official price has not been announced, Kia assures that the EV3 will be available at a “competitive” price point.
