Red Bull has announced that Sergio Perez has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him with the team until the end of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Under this agreement, Perez will continue to be Max Verstappen’s teammate until at least the end of 2026.
The 34-year-old Mexican driver started the 2024 season strong, achieving three second-place finishes in the first four Grand Prix races. Despite recent performance dips raising some doubts about Red Bull’s final decision, the Austrian team chose to prioritize stability.
Team’s Choice for Stability
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner highlighted the significance of confirming their 2025 driver lineup, stating, “We are very happy to continue working with Checo.” Horner emphasized that continuity and stability are crucial for the team. Perez and Verstappen’s successful partnership last year helped Red Bull achieve a 1-2 finish in the championship for the first time.
Perez’s Strong Start
Perez had a strong start to the 2024 season with second-place finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, as well as a podium in China. Expressing his excitement to continue his journey with Red Bull, Perez said, “I am very happy to stay here for two more years and contribute to this team’s history.”
By securing Perez until 2026, Red Bull aims to maintain its competitive edge and build on the solid foundation established by Perez and Verstappen’s successful partnership.
