Apple Captures Nearly Half of Global Smartphone Revenue in Q2 2026

Apple has once again demonstrated its dominance in the smartphone industry. According to the latest report from Counterpoint Research, the company accounted for 49% of global smartphone revenue during the second quarter of 2026, reaching its highest-ever revenue share for a second quarter.

Despite a slowdown in overall smartphone shipments across the industry, Apple managed to significantly increase both its sales volume and revenue, further strengthening its position in the premium smartphone market.

Global smartphone revenue reaches a new record

Counterpoint Research reported that worldwide smartphone revenue grew by 7% year-over-year, reaching $109 billion during the second quarter of 2026—a new record for the period.

At the same time, the average selling price of smartphones increased by 17%, climbing to $400, reflecting the growing demand for higher-end devices.

Apple posts strong growth in both revenue and shipments

Apple's smartphone revenue rose 22% compared to the same quarter last year, while iPhone shipments increased by 13%.

The company's average iPhone selling price also climbed from $879 to $946, highlighting continued consumer demand for premium models.

Industry analysts attribute much of this success to the strong global demand for the iPhone 17 lineup, which has helped Apple expand both its market presence and profitability.

Shipment share also increased

Apple's global smartphone shipment share grew from 17% to 21%, marking one of the company's strongest quarterly performances.

Samsung remained the world's largest smartphone vendor by shipment volume with a 23% market share, but Apple significantly narrowed the gap thanks to robust sales in China, Europe, and several emerging markets.

Android price increases benefited Apple

The report also points to rising component costs across the Android ecosystem.

Memory shortages and higher production expenses forced many Android manufacturers to increase retail prices. Apple, meanwhile, maintained relatively stable pricing, making iPhones a more attractive option for consumers shopping in the premium segment.

This pricing strategy played a key role in the company's revenue growth.

Samsung remains second in revenue

Samsung ranked second in global smartphone revenue with a 16% share.

The company recorded 9% growth in both revenue and shipments, while its average selling price remained stable at around $270.

Xiaomi and other competitors lost ground

Among the top five smartphone brands, Xiaomi experienced the steepest decline. The company's shipments dropped 26%, while revenue fell 17%, despite a 13% increase in average selling price.

Meanwhile, OPPO and vivo also faced challenging quarters, posting revenue declines of 10% and 11%, respectively.

The latest market data underscores Apple's continued leadership in the premium smartphone segment and highlights the company's ability to generate nearly half of all global smartphone revenue despite representing only a fraction of total unit shipments.
