New Electric Hyundai IONIQ 3 to Be Produced in Türkiye

As competition intensifies in the electric vehicle market, Hyundai is preparing to introduce a new contender.

The Hyundai IONIQ 3, set to be manufactured in Türkiye, aims to bring the brand’s EV vision to a broader audience.

Retro-futuristic design with a modern twist

Inspired by its larger sibling, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 3 blends retro aesthetics with futuristic elements. Its aerodynamic rear design and sleek profile are complemented by a split rear window, reminiscent of iconic models like the Toyota Prius.

Measuring approximately 4.29 meters in length and 1.43 meters in height, with a 2.65-meter wheelbase, the car promises a spacious interior within a compact footprint. The N Line version features sportier styling cues, while the standard model is expected to adopt a more understated look.

Interior: where technology meets usability

Inside, the IONIQ 3 offers a modern and ergonomic layout. A digital instrument cluster positioned above the steering wheel enhances visibility, while a large central touchscreen ranging from 12.9 to 14.6 inches dominates the dashboard.

Equipped with the Android-based Pleos Connect infotainment system, the car notably retains physical buttons—an increasingly rare but user-friendly feature in today’s touch-focused designs.

The trunk offers a generous 441 liters of storage space, with a dual-layer design providing both practicality and flexibility—322 liters in the upper section and an additional 119 liters below.

Performance, range, and competition

Built on the 400V version of Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the IONIQ 3 features front-wheel drive and two battery options:

  • 42 kWh battery: up to 344 km range
  • 61 kWh battery: up to 496 km range (WLTP)

Fast charging capabilities allow the battery to go from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. The vehicle also supports 22 kW AC charging.

Expected to launch by the end of the year, the IONIQ 3 will compete with models like Volkswagen ID.3 Neo, MG4 Electric, and BYD Dolphin. With a projected starting price below €30,000 (excluding incentives), it is positioned between the Inster and Kona in Hyundai’s EV lineup.
