Electric Evolution Reaches Compact Class: Volkswagen ID. Polo Unveiled

As the automotive industry continues its rapid shift toward electrification, Volkswagen has taken a significant step by electrifying one of its most iconic models. The beloved Volkswagen Polo now enters a new era with its fully electric version: Volkswagen ID. Polo.

Blending familiar design elements with cutting-edge EV technology, the ID. Polo represents a key milestone in Volkswagen’s strategy to transition its classic lineup into the electric age.

Modern Design with Familiar DNA

The ID. Polo showcases Volkswagen’s “Pure Positive” design philosophy. Despite being just over 4 meters long, it offers a spacious interior thanks to its dedicated EV platform, including seating for five and a generous 441-liter trunk.

Design cues from legendary models like Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Beetle are evident, while features such as LED light bars and illuminated logos enhance its modern appeal.

User-Friendly Interior Returns

Responding to criticism of touch-only controls, Volkswagen reintroduces physical buttons in the ID. Polo. Climate controls sit below a 13-inch touchscreen, while traditional steering wheel buttons improve usability.

A 10-inch digital instrument cluster can be customized to resemble the classic Golf layout. The EV architecture also allows for improved rear legroom and increased cargo space.

Performance and Range Options

The Volkswagen ID. Polo comes with two battery options:

• 37 kWh battery: 116 or 135 hp, up to 329 km range
• 52 kWh battery: 211 hp, up to 454 km range

The larger battery supports fast charging, reaching 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes under optimal conditions. Top speed is limited to 160 km/h, and a GTI performance version is expected in the future.

Pricing and Features

The model launches in Germany with a starting price of €24,995. Standard features include LED headlights, a multifunction steering wheel, and automatic climate control.

Higher trims offer adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, a rearview camera, wireless charging, and massage seats.
