Cillian Murphy Denies Voldemort Casting Rumors in Harry Potter Series

Cillian Murphy has firmly denied rumors suggesting he would portray Lord Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation.

Speculation intensified after Ralph Fiennes — who famously played Voldemort in the original films — mentioned in an interview that Murphy would be “a very good choice” for the role. The comment quickly went viral and sparked widespread casting rumors.

However, in a recent interview with The Times, Murphy shut down the claims, stating clearly: “It’s definitely not me.” He even suggested that this statement could serve as a headline.

The New Series Takes Shape

The upcoming series, expected to premiere next year, has already cast several actors. Young performers Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton will portray the central trio, while the adult cast includes:

  • Janet McTeer
  • John Lithgow
  • Nick Frost
  • Paul Whitehouse
  • Johnny Flynn
  • Warwick Davis
  • Paapa Essiedu

Controversy Surrounding J.K. Rowling

The project continues to face criticism due to the views expressed by creator J. K. Rowling on transgender rights. Calls for boycotts have emerged, and cast members have faced scrutiny as a result.

Peaky Blinders Returns to the Big Screen

Murphy also discussed reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders film. He noted that he was 35 when filming began and 48 during the movie production, describing the journey as a significant chapter of his life.

The film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will premiere in theaters on March 6 and arrive on Netflix on March 20.

For now, Murphy has made one thing clear: Voldemort will not be his next role.
