iPhone 18 Pro Series: Dynamic Island Could Shrink
Rumors surrounding Apple’s upcoming 2026 flagship models are beginning to gain momentum. According to recent reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a smaller Dynamic Island design rather than eliminating it entirely.
As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is expected to refine the existing design instead of adopting a radical new display layout.
No Under-Display Face ID — Yet
Earlier rumors suggested Apple would completely remove Dynamic Island in favor of a punch-hole camera system and move Face ID technology beneath the display. However, recent information indicates that Apple is not yet ready to implement such a significant transformation.
Reliable leak sources on Weibo suggest that Dynamic Island will become smaller but will not disappear entirely. This points to a gradual design evolution rather than a dramatic redesign.
Hardware Adjustments Expected
To reduce the size of Dynamic Island, Apple is reportedly working on repositioning certain Face ID components. The “dot projector” module could be placed under the display, allowing the visible cutout area to shrink. Other components may undergo further miniaturization but are likely to remain within the Dynamic Island module for now.
While similar rumors previously surfaced regarding the iPhone 17 Pro, they ultimately did not materialize. However, this time the consistency across multiple sources increases the likelihood of change.
In short, Apple appears to be refining rather than reinventing its design language — at least for now.
