Smart #6 Unveiled: The Largest and Most Powerful Sedan in the Brand’s History
Once known purely for producing tiny city cars, Smart has dramatically changed its direction in recent years. The launch of the Smart #6 marks the boldest step in this transformation. Officially revealed through the brand’s Chinese channels, this new sedan showcases a design and size that push Smart far beyond its traditional boundaries.
At first glance, the vehicle looks almost like an AI-generated concept car, but it is actually a production-ready model. With the #6, Smart clearly signals that it no longer wants to be seen as a brand limited to compact urban mobility.
A Nearly Five-Meter-Long Body
The Smart #6 measures an impressive 4,906 mm in length, placing it in the same size range as the legendary BMW 7 Series E32. To put that into perspective, you would need to park two original Smart ForTwo models back to back to match the length of this car.
The vehicle features a full-size sedan profile, complemented by 20-inch wheels, a LiDAR sensor, and an active rear spoiler. Its modern aerodynamic design gives it a sporty and futuristic character that positions it firmly in the premium segment.
Hybrid Power and Record-Claimed Range
Beyond its size, the Smart #6 stands out with its advanced powertrain. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) that combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 429 horsepower.
The most eye-catching figure is its claimed driving range. With a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, the car is said to reach up to 1,810 kilometers. These numbers are based on the Chinese CLTC testing standard, so real-world results may differ. Still, even on paper, the range appears highly impressive.
Electric-Only Range and Efficiency
According to Smart’s official data, the vehicle can travel up to 285 kilometers in pure electric mode. When operating in hybrid mode, the average fuel consumption is rated at just 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
With the #6, Smart seems to have completely left behind its “small city car” identity. The model’s size, technology, and ambitious efficiency figures suggest that the brand is now aiming to compete in a much higher league.
