Apple is quietly preparing for one of the biggest transformations in its history — the rebirth of Siri. The company is finalizing its Apple Intelligence platform, which will power a completely redesigned version of Siri set to launch in spring 2026 with iOS 26.4, according to CEO Tim Cook.
But this upgrade is more than a facelift. In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that the next-generation Siri will be built on Google’s Gemini AI model. Apple reportedly pays Google to run a custom-trained Gemini version within its own Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, ensuring Apple’s strict privacy standards remain intact.
This partnership means Siri won’t directly use Google services — instead, it will leverage Gemini’s computational power behind the scenes, resulting in smarter and faster interactions.
One of the most anticipated additions is AI-powered web search. Users will be able to perform natural language queries and get context-aware, personalized results across the web, dramatically improving Siri’s utility.
Still, Gurman remains cautious: “It’s unclear whether users will embrace the new Siri or whether Apple can truly change the long-standing perception of it being limited.”
Cook, however, is confident. He describes the new Siri as the first step in a broader AI framework — one that learns user habits, connects information across apps, and strengthens cross-device interaction.
By 2026, Apple aims to fully reposition Siri as more than just a voice assistant — as the intelligent heart of a new era in Apple’s ecosystem.
