Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S26 series might not arrive as early as fans hoped. According to South Korean outlet The Elec, the company’s production schedule has slipped, potentially pushing the launch from January to March 2026.
The report suggests that mass production for the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra will begin in December, while the standard and Plus models are expected to follow in January. Initially, Samsung aimed to start manufacturing all three versions simultaneously, but recent developments forced a change of plans.
The main reason behind the delay is the cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge model. Due to underwhelming sales of the S25 Edge, Samsung decided to discontinue the series and revive the “Plus” variant instead. However, rebuilding the Plus model from scratch has extended its development phase by at least one to two months.
Industry insiders reveal that Samsung is prioritizing the Ultra model since it’s projected to make up more than half of the total sales. Production efficiency also plays a role, as Samsung tends to use identical OLED panels across the standard and Plus models.
Component manufacturing is progressing unevenly — some parts are set for mass production by late October or November, while Plus-specific components won’t be ready until December. With final reliability tests still pending, the launch window for the Galaxy S26 series may indeed shift toward early spring 2026.
