Samsung’s much-anticipated slimmer book-style foldable, rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, was initially expected to launch on September 25. However, that date came and went without any announcement. Now, we have some fresh insights into its potential release.
A Korean retailer seems to have leaked the pre-order and release timeline for the device, referring to it as the Samsung Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition – not the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, as previously rumored. This might be a typo, the device’s actual name, or simply incorrect information. Nonetheless, it’s worth considering as the original page is no longer accessible.
According to the leak, pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition in Korea are set to begin on October 18 and will run through October 24, with the official release expected on October 25. So, perhaps the September 25 leak was accurate regarding the day but off by a month.
Of course, this leak might be genuine or just speculation. We’ll need to wait and see whether the information turns out to be true.
As for the specs, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (or whatever it will be named) is rumored to feature an 8-inch internal folding screen, a 6.5-inch cover display, and a slimmer profile at 10.6mm when folded. Additionally, it’s expected to sport a 200 MP main camera, making it more advanced than the Galaxy Z Fold6, which launched in July. Yet, this special edition seems to be targeted only at the Korean and Chinese markets, leaving the rest of the world without access to these premium specs. This raises the question of Samsung’s regional market strategy.
