Meta’s popular social media platform Instagram continues to enhance user experience with new features. The latest update introduces a significant change to one of Instagram’s most-used sections: Stories. With this new feature, users will be able to leave comments on Instagram Stories that are visible to everyone.
What Does the New Feature Offer?
Previously, it was possible to comment on Instagram Stories, but only the person who shared the content could see these comments, making it a more private feedback option. The new public comment feature, however, allows comments on Stories to be visible to all users. This means that both you and your followers will be able to see comments on shared Stories.
Comments Will Be Temporary
Instagram has stated that comments will not replace conversations in the DM (Direct Message) inbox. Instead, comments will be temporary, just like Stories, and will disappear when the related post vanishes after 24 hours. However, users will still have the option to enable or disable the comment feature before sharing a Story.
Other New Instagram Features
Instagram is also offering various tools to enhance the aesthetics of Stories. Posts can be created with customizable templates, enriched with AI-generated backgrounds, or personalized with an increasing number of interactive stickers. Moreover, Instagram is working on several platform-wide innovations. The “music on profile” feature, currently in testing, takes inspiration from Myspace, while the “Share from Spotify” feature brings a MSN-like sharing experience to the platform.
With these updates, Instagram aims to improve user interactions and make sharing experiences more dynamic. It remains to be seen how these new features will impact users’ sharing and interaction on the social media platform.
