Oscar Piastri of McLaren emerged victorious at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marking his second career win in Formula 1. The 17th race of the Formula 1 World Championship was held on the challenging 6-kilometer Baku City Circuit in the heart of Azerbaijan’s capital.
A Thrilling Race
Starting from second on the grid, Piastri clocked a race time of 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 58 seconds to claim the top spot. This win solidified his growing reputation in the F1 world as he celebrated his second career victory.
Charles Leclerc from Ferrari finished in second place, trailing Piastri by 10.910 seconds, while George Russell of Mercedes completed the podium, finishing 31.328 seconds behind the leader.
Crashes and Final Laps Drama
The race wasn’t without its share of drama. On lap 50, a collision between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz forced both drivers out of the race. Following the crash, the race concluded under a virtual safety car.
