GTA 6 Could Arrive on PC in Early 2027, According to New Report
PC players may not have to wait long to experience Grand Theft Auto 6. According to a report by GamesBeat, citing its sources, Rockstar Games could release the PC version of its highly anticipated blockbuster during the first quarter of 2027. If the report proves accurate, players could follow Jason and Lucia's story on their computers just a few months after the game's planned console debut.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19. The PC edition is reportedly expected to follow sometime during the first three months of 2027, potentially arriving by the end of March. Rockstar has not officially confirmed this release window, so the timing should still be treated as a rumor rather than a finalized launch plan.
A Much Shorter Wait Than GTA 5
One of the most encouraging aspects of the report is the possibility of a significantly shorter gap between the console and PC releases. If Rockstar follows the rumored schedule, PC players could get their hands on GTA 6 considerably sooner than they did with its predecessor.
Grand Theft Auto 5 originally launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. Its PC version did not arrive until April 2015, roughly 18 months later. A PC release for GTA 6 just a few months after its console debut would represent a substantial reduction in waiting time for computer players.
A Crowded Gaming Schedule in Early 2027
Even before its release, GTA 6 is widely expected to become one of the biggest launches in the gaming industry. Many publishers and developers have reportedly been cautious about scheduling competing releases around the game's console debut. A similar situation could emerge when the PC version arrives, potentially prompting other companies to reconsider their launch plans.
The first quarter of 2027 already includes several notable titles on the release calendar, including Stranger Than Heaven, Metroid Ravenous, Until Dawn 2, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, God of War Laufey and Fable. If GTA 6 joins that lineup, publishers may face additional pressure to find release dates that allow their games to stand out.
However, there is currently no confirmed evidence that any of these titles will be delayed specifically to avoid competing with GTA 6.
When Will GTA 6's Online Mode Launch?
The release schedule for GTA 6's online component remains another major question. Rockstar has revealed very little about the game's multiplayer plans. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has suggested that the online mode could arrive next year, although his comments do not establish a definitive release date.
The PC launch could be particularly significant for the game's online ecosystem. GTA 5's popular roleplaying communities and modifications have largely developed around PC players, making the platform an important part of the franchise's long-term appeal.
Rockstar acquired the team behind FiveM, a popular roleplaying server platform, three years ago. More recently, the company added a roleplaying option to its GTA 5 PC launcher. These developments have fueled speculation that Rockstar might wait until the PC version of GTA 6 is available before introducing its new game's online features.
That remains speculation, however, and Rockstar has not confirmed any connection between the PC release and the launch of multiplayer.
For now, the reported early 2027 release window remains unconfirmed. If the schedule holds, PC players could enjoy GTA 6 much sooner after its console debut than they did with GTA 5. An official announcement from Rockstar will be needed to establish the actual launch date.
