Veteran Turkish actor Kadir İnanır, one of the most iconic figures in Turkish cinema, has passed away at the age of 77 while receiving treatment in hospital. His death marks the end of an extraordinary career that influenced generations of moviegoers and filmmakers.
İnanır was admitted to hospital in May after being diagnosed with pneumonia. His condition later worsened due to a severe lung infection, forcing doctors to transfer him to intensive care. Medical staff initially tried to avoid intubation, but eventually had to place him on mechanical ventilation as his condition deteriorated.
The beloved actor had already been facing health challenges in recent years. In 2024, he suffered a blood clot in the brain and underwent a lengthy recovery following intensive care treatment. Despite showing signs of improvement, his health continued to decline over the following months.

Born on April 15, 1949, in Fatsa, Ordu, Kadir İnanır began his acting career in the early 1970s and quickly became one of Yeşilçam's most recognizable stars.
Throughout a career spanning more than five decades, he appeared in over 180 films, earning widespread acclaim for his powerful performances in both romantic and dramatic roles.
His performances in classics such as Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım, Yılanların Öcü, Bir Yudum Sevgi, Ah Güzel İstanbul, and Tatar Ramazan remain among the most memorable in Turkish cinema history.
An Award-Winning Legacy
Kadir İnanır received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including Best Actor honors at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, and Ankara Film Festival.
He was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and the special "Face of Our Cinema" award presented during the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
