2026 Academy Awards (Oscar) Winners Announced: One Battle After Another Dominates the Night

The Academy Awards, widely known as the Oscars, once again celebrated the best achievements in cinema during the 2026 ceremony. This year’s Best Picture race was particularly competitive, mainly centered around three films: One Battle After Another, Sinners, and Hamnet.

In the end, One Battle After Another emerged as the night’s biggest winner. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film secured six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, making it the most awarded film of the evening. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, whose performance received critical acclaim, though he did not win the Best Actor award.

Instead, the Best Actor Oscar went to Michael B. Jordan for his performance in Sinners, where he portrayed twin brothers. His dual performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike.

The Best Actress award was won by Jessie Buckley for her powerful role in Hamnet, a performance that had already been considered a strong contender throughout the awards season.

Following the dominant success of One Battle After Another, the film Sinners secured four Oscars, while Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro, won three awards in technical categories.

In the animation category, KPOP Demon Hunters had an impressive night, winning both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Technical categories also highlighted big productions. Avatar: Fire & Ash won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, while the racing drama F1 claimed the award for Best Sound.

Other notable winners included Sean Penn for Best Supporting Actor, Amy Madigan for Best Supporting Actress, and the Norwegian film Sentimental Value, which won Best International Feature Film.

The 2026 Oscars showcased a diverse range of films and performances, highlighting the richness and creativity of the global film industry.
