Following his commanding performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is on the verge of securing his fourth Formula 1 World Championship in Las Vegas. Starting from 17th place, Verstappen claimed victory in Sao Paulo, widening the gap to 62 points over his nearest rival, Lando Norris, after also earning the fastest lap point.
When asked about the possibility of winning a fourth consecutive title, Verstappen stated, “I’m not thinking about securing the championship in Vegas. All I want from now on are clean races.” His composed outlook suggests he’s focusing solely on maintaining consistent performance.
Ahead of the Las Vegas GP next weekend, there are still 60 points up for grabs, including two races, two fastest lap bonuses, and a sprint race, making this a decisive moment in the season.
Scenarios for Verstappen to Clinch the Championship in Las Vegas:
Verstappen can secure the championship by finishing ahead of Norris in the race. If Norris places second, Verstappen can win the title with a third-place finish plus the fastest lap. Other scenarios also allow Verstappen to claim the title if Norris ranks lower, down to ninth or even outside the points entirely. In each case, Verstappen would retain enough of a lead to make his championship victory definitive.
