The New 2026 BMW i3 Arrives: A New Era for Electric Sedans
The German automaker BMW has taken another major step in its electrification journey with the introduction of the new BMW i3. First previewed through the Vision Neue Klasse concept in 2023, the model has now entered production form.
Following the launch of the BMW iX3, the new i3 becomes the second key model representing BMW’s next-generation design philosophy.
Bigger and More Striking Design
The new i3 stands out with its increased dimensions. Measuring 4,760 mm in length and featuring a 2,898 mm wheelbase, it is larger than the BMW 3 Series (G20).
The front design showcases a split nose with LED headlights and an illuminated kidney grille, blending BMW’s heritage with a futuristic touch. Aerodynamic details and large air intakes enhance its sporty appearance.
From the side, 21-inch aerodynamic wheels, sculpted fenders, and flush door handles emphasize its modern character. The rear design continues the sporty theme with slim LED taillights and a compact trunk layout.
Minimalist and Digital Interior
Inside, the i3 shares much of its layout with the BMW iX3. A clean, minimalist design dominates the cabin, featuring a four-spoke steering wheel and a large angled touchscreen.
A full-width digital display integrated beneath the windshield delivers key information seamlessly. Slim air vents, a layered center console, ambient lighting, and a panoramic glass roof further enhance the premium feel.
Strong Performance and Long Range
The i3 50 xDrive variant is powered by dual electric motors producing 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive system ensures both performance and stability.
Equipped with a 108.7 kWh battery and an 800-volt architecture, the vehicle supports ultra-fast charging up to 400 kW. With a WLTP range of up to 900 km, the new i3 sets an ambitious benchmark in its segment.
A Key Player in BMW’s Electric Future
The Neue Klasse vision represents more than just design—it signals a shift toward advanced technology, efficiency, and sustainability. The new i3 is poised to become a cornerstone of this transformation.
