Tesla’s Next Move: A “Cooler Than a Minivan” Model on the Way?

Elon Musk has revealed that Tesla is working on a new vehicle, sparking widespread speculation across the automotive world. While official details remain scarce, Musk’s statements and emerging rumors suggest that the company may be preparing a model that goes beyond traditional vehicle categories.

In a post shared on March 24, Musk highlighted the rear seating capacity of the Tesla Cybertruck, noting that it can comfortably accommodate three child seats or three adults. When a user suggested building a minivan, Musk replied that something “much cooler than a minivan” is on the way, fueling curiosity about Tesla’s next direction.

One of the most talked-about possibilities is a large, three-row SUV inspired by the Cybertruck’s design language. Often referred to as a “CyberSUV,” this concept gained traction after a prototype-like vehicle appeared in the background of a Tesla video. The rumored model is expected to retain the sharp, futuristic styling of the Cybertruck while offering a longer roofline and increased interior space for family use.

Such a vehicle would likely sit above the Tesla Model X and Tesla Model Y in Tesla’s lineup, targeting premium SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade. At the same time, reports that Tesla may scale back production of its higher-end models further support the idea of a new flagship SUV filling that gap.

Another plausible scenario involves a more practical solution: expanding the availability of the long-wheelbase Model Y currently sold in China. With increased cabin space and additional seating configurations, this version could appeal to family-oriented buyers in other markets. Sightings near Gigafactory Texas have also added weight to this theory.

Repurposing the Cybertruck platform for a new body style could offer Tesla significant advantages, particularly in reducing development costs and accelerating production timelines. This strategy would allow the company to tap into new segments more efficiently.

For now, Tesla has not confirmed any specifics. However, Elon Musk’s remark about something “cooler than a minivan” strongly suggests that an unconventional and ambitious model may soon be unveiled.
