Motorola Razr Fold Steps In: A Strong New Challenger in the Foldable Market
Competition in the foldable smartphone market is intensifying, and Motorola is raising the stakes with the introduction of the Razr Fold. Unveiled at CES 2026, the Razr Fold marks the company’s first side-folding smartphone, positioning Motorola directly against established players like Samsung and Google.
The Razr Fold features a 6.6-inch external display and an expansive 8.1-inch flexible main screen, delivering a tablet-like experience when unfolded. This large display area enhances multitasking, content consumption, and productivity-focused use. While Motorola has yet to reveal the device’s exact dimensions or thickness, the screen specifications alone suggest a premium foldable experience.
Stylus Support Sets It Apart
One of the most notable aspects of the Razr Fold is its support for the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. This is a significant addition, especially considering that Samsung removed stylus support from its Galaxy Z Fold 7. Since modern foldables essentially function as compact tablets, stylus compatibility remains a highly valued feature for note-taking, drawing, and precision input.
A Versatile and Powerful Camera Setup
The Razr Fold doesn’t disappoint in the camera department either. The device includes:
- A 50MP Sony main sensor,
- A 50MP ultra-wide/macro camera,
- A 50MP telephoto lens,
- A 32MP external selfie camera,
- A 20MP internal front-facing camera.
In addition, the phone supports Dolby Vision video recording, enabling high-quality video capture with enhanced color and contrast.
Design, Colors, and What We Don’t Know Yet
Motorola has confirmed that the Razr Fold will be available in blue and white color options. However, details regarding internal hardware specifications, pricing, and market availability remain under wraps. According to Motorola, additional specifications will be revealed in the coming months.
Building on Motorola’s Foldable Legacy
Although the Razr Fold is Motorola’s first side-folding smartphone, the company has a long-standing history with foldable designs. Motorola pioneered the classic flip phone concept and continues to refine it through its standard Razr lineup of midrange top-folding devices. With the Razr Fold, Motorola expands this legacy into the premium foldable segment, blending experience with innovation.
