Dexter: Resurrection exceeds expectations with impressive viewership

Returning to the screens after a long hiatus, Dexter: Resurrection has not only reignited the passion of its loyal fanbase but also made a big splash in the television landscape. Premiering on July 11, the show’s first three episodes have delivered strong results, especially with the debut episode drawing 3.1 million viewers across Paramount+ and Showtime. This milestone makes it the most successful Showtime series premiere ever on the Paramount+ platform.

A continuation of both the original Dexter series and its follow-up Dexter: New Blood, Resurrection outperforms its predecessors significantly. Compared to recent entries in the franchise, the first episodes of Resurrection achieved 46% more views than Dexter: Original Sin and a remarkable 79% more than Dexter: New Blood.

The release of Dexter: Resurrection has also reignited interest in the entire Dexter franchise. Paramount reports a 132% increase in total viewership across all Dexter content this week alone, a clear justification for the studio’s continued investment in new Dexter projects.

Beyond the strong storyline, the series also boasts a star-studded cast. Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, joined by big names such as Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. Fan favorites from previous seasons—including David Zayas, James Remar, Jack Alcott, John Lithgow, and Jimmy Smits—also reprise their roles, adding a nostalgic touch to the new installment.
