Cobie Smulders, best known for her role as Robin Scherbatsky in How I Met Your Mother, is joining the cast of Netflix’s popular legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer (titled Güneşin Karanlığında in Turkish) in its much-anticipated fourth season. While details about her character remain under wraps, her addition to the ensemble has already generated significant buzz.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, the new season will be based on The Law of Innocence, the sixth book in Michael Connelly’s acclaimed novel series. Season 4 will consist of 10 episodes, with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo reprising his role as the lead character. Smulders will join the main cast alongside Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole, bringing a fresh dynamic to the story.
Guest stars for this season include Marcus Henderson, Gigi Zumbado, Emmanuelle Chriqui, celebrity chef Nancy Silverton, and Javon Johnson. Filming for the new season is currently in progress.
Smulders is no stranger to Netflix productions. She has previously appeared in A Series of Unfortunate Events, Friends From College, and the Netflix revival of Arrested Development. In addition to her television success, she is widely recognized for her portrayal of Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most recently, she has starred in Apple TV+’s Shrinking and Impeachment: American Crime Story.
