Real Madrid regrets signing Mbappe: A costly mistake

Spanish journalist Romain Molina has claimed that Real Madrid is regretting their decision to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The long-awaited transfer finally brought the French captain to Madrid, but reports suggest that the club is dissatisfied with Mbappe’s performance and his adaptation to life at the Bernabeu.

Underwhelming Performance of Mbappe

After his transfer from PSG to Real Madrid, Mbappe has scored 7 goals in 11 matches across all competitions. Despite these numbers, there is a growing sense within the Madrid camp that the French star has not lived up to expectations. The club is reportedly disappointed not only with his performance on the field but also with the challenges he has faced off the field.

Allegations Against Mbappe and Madrid’s Support

During the international break, Swedish media reported that Mbappe was at the center of a police investigation over an alleged sexual assault. The incident was said to have occurred in a Stockholm hotel during his stay. Both Mbappe and his lawyer dismissed the allegations as “false and defamatory,” and Real Madrid quickly offered their full support to the player during this turbulent period.

Molina’s Insights: “A Personal Desire of Perez”

Romain Molina shared his insights with the Daily Mail, stating that Real Madrid regrets bringing Mbappe to the club: “They are truly regretting signing him. I can guarantee that. It has not gone as they expected. This was a personal whim of Florentino Perez. Perez was the only one who really wanted Mbappe at the club.”

Molina emphasized that Perez has always had a fondness for big-name players and viewed Mbappe almost like a son. However, he also noted that the club’s management is now deeply disappointed: “The club is unhappy primarily because Mbappe’s performance is not up to par, and the locker room atmosphere isn’t ideal either, although that’s not entirely Mbappe’s fault.”

Concerns About Mbappe’s Physical Condition and Adaptation

Molina pointed out that one of Real Madrid’s mistakes was fielding Mbappe immediately without a proper preseason. Unlike Jude Bellingham, who had time to prepare, Mbappe struggled with his physical condition. “I’ve never seen such a physical decline in a 25-year-old player before,” Molina remarked, highlighting that the forward’s fitness has been a major concern for the club.
