Apple released the iOS 18.2 beta on October 23. This update brings Apple Intelligence features to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series but also introduces a refreshed Mail app with several key updates. So, what’s new with the Mail app?
What’s New: Smart Categories and Enhanced Visuals
The updated Mail app offers a new design featuring profile pictures and icons for each email, making it easier for users to distinguish messages quickly. However, beyond the visual improvements, one of the most significant additions is smart categorization.
Emails will now be automatically sorted into categories such as “Primary,” “Updates,” and “Promotions.” For example, bills and order confirmations will go into the “Transactions” category, while newsletters and social media notifications will be grouped under “Updates.” There will also be a dedicated tab for promotions and ads, and a section showing all emails in chronological order for easier browsing.
Smart Reply Suggestions with Apple Intelligence
Another notable feature is the introduction of smart reply suggestions powered by Apple Intelligence. This allows users to respond to emails more efficiently with quick and relevant replies. Additionally, emails from the same sender will be clearly distinguished, making it easier to differentiate between older and newer messages.
When Will It Be Released?
The new Mail app is expected to be available with the final release of iOS 18.2 in December, bringing a more refined and intuitive email experience to Apple users.
